I just returned to the US from Germany for a 6 week visit. While I have a house in Michigan where I am now, my wife has a job in Weimar. When I came to Michigan I carried my CPAP, in its bulky carrying case, inside my regular large suitcase. While this is a pain in the neck to lug that extra weight around, it keeps me in a high quality CPAP with a humidifier. My unit is 110V/220V 50Hz/60Hz so switching house power is not a problem other than a simple plug converter.
Your discussion of portable units was quite interesting but I would only want a portable unit if it incorporated a humidifier. When I forget to fill my humidifier, I usually wake up when the water runs out.
One off-topic question: is there any consensus on how often one should have a sleep study to check the appropriate pressure to use?
